I know it's not a whole lot, but I bought some coordinating pieces like rugs and towels as well as some nice apple cinnamon potpourri. My favorite part is the wall decal. I wasn't sure how well it would work on our walls because of the uneven texture, but I'm quite pleased.
The bathroom wasn't my only little project today though. I also found these very cute wooden hooks for the kids' bags. Only $2.50 each!
And finally, I've been meaning to share more of the wall art we purchased. This time, it was for the kids' room...
These small things make my house feel more like home. I know I'm lucky to be able to indulge in such things and I am grateful.
And since I'm on this little kick, please let me know if you have any cute, affordable ideas for decorating the house!

I totally agree, those small things help make the house feel so much more homey. I like the colors you chose for your bathroom, they're so warm and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI love red as an accent and it looks great in your bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI also love the wall art! For the longest time, I didn't have curtains or pictures because I didn't want to spend the money--both can be really pricey. I found some great deals on curtains at IKEA, like 14.99 for two panels. I have also framed funky, artsy fabric from IKEA and those hang in my bedroom like prints. (which reminds me I've been meaning to share that idea on my blog). If you have empty frames, you could do it with any fabric you really like. The best part (besides being cheap) is that you can easily change it to match anything.
I can definitely appreciate how little touches go so far in making your house feel more like "home". And those hooks are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have some pictures that I took on various vacations. I had them printed in 11x18 in black and white, and I framed them in a very basic black frame. I love those, hanging together...a great reminder of some of our favorite places.
My dad is an architect, and I have two pages - scaled down to 11x18 - of the plans he drew for the house that I grew up in. Also framed in simple black, it looks like "artwork" to me.
I think there are all sorts of "artwork" possibilities for the house, if you look outside the box a bit. I have a friend who does some amazing things with free printables, maybe matching them with scrapbook paper, and framing them...for so little money, she has some beautiful pieces.
Love red! My fave colour - it looks great.
ReplyDeleteto make my kids rooms have a bit more personality, I sometimes "frame" their school/craft art. I use the term frame loosely: it can mean an actual frame, or one we have fashioned ourselves - say out of popsicle sticks, or pasta. Dollar stores often have wall decals that are removeable/changeable too.
for my own, I have "seasonal frames" - which means I change the contents of the frame - or a shadow box is best - according to the season. So spring I might have some pretty pastel colours and tulips, etc., while summer might have seashells, daisies, etc. It's cheap way to change it up so you don't get bored of the same pictures.
Love the bathroom! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteyou seem to have a lovely house, will keep reading, i'm sure will find many things in common,
